Personalised boxing shorts usually carry a name or nickname on the waistband, a personal or gym logo on the front or leg, and colours, flags or symbols that mean something to the fighter. The best designs keep one main message, stay readable from a distance, and fit within any competition kit rules.
This guide covers what you can personalise, how to keep it readable in the ring, and what to check before you approve the design. For the full ordering process, see the ultimate guide to customising boxing shorts.

What you can personalise
| Element | Usual position | Tips |
|---|---|---|
| Name or nickname | Waistband or back | Use a bold, simple font; keep it short |
| Personal or gym logo | Front centre or one leg | Send a vector file; simplify fine details |
| Flag or country colours | Side panels, leg or waistband | Check the official colours and the flag’s orientation |
| Sponsor logos | Legs or back | Check competition advertising rules first |
| Motto or slogan | Leg or back | Keep it to a few words so it stays readable |
| Colours and trims | Whole short | Limit the main palette to two or three colours |
Keep it readable
- One focal point. Choose either a large name or a large logo as the main element, and keep the rest smaller.
- Contrast. Light lettering on a dark body, or dark lettering on a light body, reads best under ring lights.
- Size. Very small text does not work in embroidery. Digitising guides suggest letters at least about 5–6.5 mm high, and larger if the text must be read from a distance.
- Placement. Avoid placing important text across seams, side splits or the gathered part of the waistband.
Choose a method for each element
Names and logos on dark satin usually look best embroidered or appliquéd. Full-colour artwork, photos and gradients usually need sublimation on a light polyester base. Simple one- or two-colour logos on bigger orders can be screen printed. Read sublimation vs embroidery for the trade-offs.
Check before you approve
- Spelling, capital letters and accents in every name and slogan
- That foreign-language text, such as Thai lettering, has been checked by a native speaker
- That you have permission to use every logo, sponsor mark or character on the shorts
- Competition rules on logos, advertising, colours and waistband
- The proof’s colours, positions and decoration method for each element
Personalisation for teams
For a gym or team, keep the shared design the same for everyone and personalise only one element per member, such as a name on the waistband. Collect the names in a spreadsheet and check them before ordering. See custom gear for gyms and teams.
